NZOKDA Strategic Plan 2026–2032 — Have Your Say
The committee has drafted a six-year strategic plan for the class, and we want every member's view before it's finalised.
The core idea is simple: treat our healthy reserves as permanent capital, invest them, and each year spend only the income they generate. Membership subs would continue to cover day-to-day running costs. The investment income would fund the things we think grow the class — professional photo and video coverage at local regattas, support for host clubs, coaching in the regional fleets, and a contribution toward Kiwis shipping to overseas Worlds. The goal is to lift active participation to 50+ sailors and build toward the 2029 Napier Worlds as our biggest growth moment.
The survey also asks a question that comes up regularly — whether the association should instead use its reserves to buy boats or masts to grow numbers. The committee's honest view is that the investing path helps every sailor at every regatta, every year; the equipment path helps a small number of sailors once. But it's a genuine question and we want to hear what members think.
Complete the survey here. It takes about 15 minutes. Anyone connected to the class is welcome to fill it in, but only paid members' responses will shape the final decisions — non-member responses will still be read and reported to the committee, just kept separate.
The full draft roadmap is available on this page. Please read it, complete the survey, and come to the general meeting where the final version will be put to the class for adoption.
Please complete the survey by 18 September, 2026
